Editing a Store After Launch

Once a store is open, you can keep making changes to it. This article covers how to open a store right away, what to keep in mind when you edit a live store, and how to close it early or reopen it.

How to Open a Store Right Now

  1. In your store, go to the General Settings page.
  2. Under scheduling, make sure the Open Date is in the past. (A new or copied store already defaults to the date it was created, so you may not need to change it.)
  3. Click the Launch button at the bottom left-hand side of your screen.

If the Open Date is in the past, the store goes live as soon as you click Launch. If the Open Date is in the future, clicking Launch schedules the store instead. It stays in Scheduled and goes live automatically at that date and time.

Editing a Live Store

You can keep editing branding, products, prices, and settings after a store opens. A few things change once orders start coming in:

  • Products with orders are locked. A product that has been added to a cart or ordered can't be deleted, and its Edit Processes button is greyed out. Turn it off in the Active column instead, or copy the product and make your changes on the copy. Why Can't I Delete a Product?
  • Changes apply going forward. Orders that are already placed keep what the shopper paid. New pricing, fees, or fundraising you add only apply to orders placed after the change.
  • Keep your dates in sync. The store Close Date on General Settings and the Countdown to Close clock in Branding > Pages are set separately. If you change one, update the other. How to Include a Countdown Clock

How to Close a Store Early

  1. In your store, go to the General Settings page.
  2. Change the Close Date to the current date and time.

When the close date arrives, the store moves to Closed (Ready to Process) and no more orders can be placed.

How to Reopen a Closed Store

  • If you haven't started processing orders, move the Close Date to a later date. The store reopens automatically and starts taking orders again.
  • If you've already started purchasing or production, copy the store instead. This keeps new orders separate from the ones you're already working on.

Good to Know

  • Store link. Your store URL is set on the General Settings page. You can reuse a URL, but two Open or Scheduled stores can't use the same URL at the same time.
  • Need to push a launch back? If the store hasn't opened yet, set the Open Date to a future date and it will wait in Scheduled until then.
  • Once a store is in Production, avoid making changes. Your team is purchasing and decorating from what's on the store at that point. Updating Store Statuses Once Your Store is Closed
