 How Chipply Payouts Work

 How Chipply Payouts Work

Chipply pays you for your store sales through Stripe. This article explains when payouts happen, how to change your payout schedule, how to keep your bank account up to date, and where to find your deposit statements so you can reconcile each payout.

How Payouts Work

  • Money from your store orders is collected through Stripe and paid out to the bank account on your Stripe account.
  • Payouts run on a set schedule (daily or weekly), not per store. Each payout includes everything collected since your last payout, across all of your stores.
  • When a payout is sent, you'll get a Chipply Payout email letting you know it has been processed. Depending on your bank, the money usually shows up in your account within a day or two.

How to Change Your Payout Frequency

  1. Go to My Account and open Dealer Settings.
  2. Click the Stripe tab.
  3. Under Payout Options, choose Daily or Weekly.
  4. Save your change.

Tip: Payout frequency changes can take 3 to 5 days to take effect and only apply to future payouts. Your next deposit will include all outstanding items.

How to Update Your Bank Account

If your bank account changes, or Stripe needs more information from you, update it in your Stripe account so your payouts aren't held.

  1. Go to My Account and open Dealer Settings.
  2. Click the Stripe tab and log in to your Stripe account.
  3. Update your bank information, or complete any outstanding items Stripe is asking for.

If you get an email from Chipply titled ACTION REQUIRED: Chipply/Stripe Payouts, Stripe has paused your payout until something is updated. Use the link in that email to log in and finish the update. Once it's done, the held money is included in your next scheduled payout.

How to Find Your Deposit Statements

  1. Click Reports from the top navigation bar.
  2. Click Deposits from the left-hand menu.
  3. Click the Deposit # link for the payout you want to review.
  4. Click Print Summary Statement to download a PDF of the deposit.

How to Reconcile a Deposit

  • Match the date. The Date Generated column on the Deposits page matches the statement date, so you can line it up with the deposit on your bank statement.
  • See what was taken out. Each deposit shows the amount collected, Chipply fees, processing fees, and the final deposit total, so you can see exactly why the deposit is less than your sales.
  • Break it down by store. Turn on Show Transactions By Store inside a deposit to see the totals for each store in that payout.
  • Export the taxes for a deposit. Use Export Tax Data inside a deposit to get the sales tax for just that payout. For taxes over a date range (for example, a quarter), use the Sales Tax Report instead.
  • Check pending money. The Deposits page also shows Pending Deposits and Unposted Deposits for money that hasn't been paid out yet.

Common Questions

Can I get a payout at the end of each store?
Not right now. Payouts follow your daily or weekly schedule and include sales from all of your stores. Use Show Transactions By Store on a deposit to see how much came from each store.

Why is my deposit less than my sales?
Chipply fees and processing fees are subtracted before the payout. Processing fees vary by payment method (for example, card payments and Klarna have different rates). Each deposit statement shows the fees taken out. Customer Fee Vs. Organization Fee

Why is a deposit lower than expected, or showing a negative pending amount?
Refunds issued after a payout come out of a later deposit, so a deposit can be lower than expected and the Pending or Unposted amounts can show as negative. How to Refund an Order in Order Manager

How is fundraising handled?
Fundraising is part of your store sales and is included in your payouts. Use the Fundraising report to see what you owe each organization. How to Filter Fundraising Report by Date

Who can change payout settings?
Only dealer admins. Other users can view the Stripe tab but can't make changes. How to Add New Users to Chipply

I can't log in to Stripe. What do I do?
Stripe sends a verification code to the phone number used when your account was set up. If you no longer have access to that number, contact your Chipply team for help.

How do I change who gets the Chipply Payout email?
Reach out to your Chipply team to update the email address that receives Chipply Payout emails.
